Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 29, 2026

We believe privacy is a right, not a checkbox. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Overview

Gentle Technology ("we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Memphis, Tennessee. We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with our website, attends our community sessions, or contacts us for support.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to serve you well. This includes:

  • Contact information — name, phone number, and email address when you submit a session request, volunteer application, or contact form.
  • Session preferences — the type of technology help you are seeking and any notes you share with us.
  • Donation information — when you donate, your payment is processed securely by Stripe. We receive a record of the transaction amount and date but never store your full card number.
  • Website usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) that help us understand how our site is used. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, medical information, or any sensitive personal data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you share to:

  • Respond to session requests and schedule community workshops.
  • Confirm volunteer applications and coordinate opportunities.
  • Process donations and send tax receipts as required by law.
  • Answer questions submitted through our contact form or support line.
  • Improve our website and services based on aggregate usage patterns.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.

When We Share Information

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — we use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of our participants or staff.
  • Organizational successors — if Gentle Technology merges with or transfers its mission to another nonprofit, your information may transfer as part of that process, and you will be notified.

Data Retention

We retain contact and session information for up to three years to support follow-up and program evaluation. Donation records are retained for seven years as required by nonprofit accounting standards. You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us (see below), subject to any legal retention obligations.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to legal obligations.
  • Opt out of any future communications from us.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] or call us at (901) 555-0100.

Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses only essential session cookies required for the site to function. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or analytics services that share your data with third parties. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; this will not affect your ability to use our site.

Children's Privacy

Our services are designed for adults aged 60 and older and for adult members of underserved communities. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
